Special Ops: Lioness - season 2

When the scripts call for you to travel to Iraq, the Texas-Mexico border, and Monterrey, Mexico, all while filming in Fort Worth, we know visual effects will be needed. Background enhancements and replacements were the theme in the action set pieces of Lioness season 2. I was brought in on this season, so there wasn’t much of a shorthand from season 1.

For Iraq, the Texas countryside was replaced by mountainous desert and dusty roads, along with a forward operating base complete with CH-47s and Humvees. The Mexico border crossing used background images and CG building extensions to tie into production footage.

The action scenes required massive amounts of muzzle flashes, explosion enhancements, CG rocket trails, soldier duplications, blood squibs, whew, the list goes on.

Everything was an immense collaboration between the production design team, special effects, stunts, and visual effects, so that everything blended seamlessly and appeared effortless.
