Lawmen: Bass Reeves

A beautifully photographed period piece with some classic dramatic western action sequences called for a variety of visual effect solutions.

All of the small-town set pieces, including Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Checotah, Oklahoma, were real towns in Texas, where production design modified them and visual effects extended them. Blue screens were added in some sections to extend the roads, but other sections were left open and used rotoscoping and replacements to retain some of the visual depth you can only get from a real view.
